We are thrilled to introduce Momoko Takahashi, the Grand Prix winner of the Vienna Youth Music Competition 2026 Summer Season! 🎻✨

We had the privilege of interviewing Momoko to learn more about her musical journey, her preparation for the competition, and her words of inspiration for fellow young musicians.

🎶 A Life Steeped in Classical Music

"I started playing the piano at the age of three and the violin at the age of four. Since childhood, I have been surrounded by classical music and have had many opportunities to perform, including being a member of an orchestra from a young age. These experiences have shaped both my musical growth and my passion for music."

🎼 Overcoming New Challenges

For this season's competition, Momoko delivered a powerful performance of Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2.

"Since I had not had many opportunities to study music from the modern period before, I found it particularly challenging to develop my interpretation and musical expression. I worked hard to learn about the historical background of the piece and the composer's intentions so that I could reflect them in my performance."

đź’ˇ Words of Encouragement for Young Artists

Momoko shares her insightful reflection on dedication and perseverance in music:

"Music is a journey of continuous learning, and every challenge helps you grow. There may be times when things don't go as you hope, but every performance and every practice session becomes part of your experience. Believe in yourself, enjoy making music, and never stop being curious and open to learning."

🎉 Congratulations once again to Momoko Takahashi on this exceptional achievement!
